Five Democratic Muslim candidates from the Democratic Party have set a new record in the United States by winning the Wisconsin, Florida and Delaware legislatures. They include three Muslim women.
Marie Turner, a Muslim woman from Oklahoma, has reportedly been elected to the Legislative Assembly. He is also the first Muslim member of the Oklahoma Legislative Assembly. Similarly, in Delaware, Madina Wilson Anton has become the first Muslim member of the Legislature.
Iman Judah has been elected to the Colorado House of Representatives, the first Muslim member of the House to do so.
Samba Baldia, elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly, is not only the first Muslim but also the first black member to represent Dean County. Christopher Benjamin, representing Florida’s 107th District in the House of Representatives, is also the first Muslim to achieve this feat.
In addition to gaining the broad support of American Muslims, Biden has promised to include Muslims living in the United States in his administration and to lift Trump’s unannounced sanctions on Muslims.
