Effects of Masturbation

Masturbation, also known as self-pleasuring, is the act of stroking and touching areas of the body for sexual pleasure, such as the penis, scrotum, clitoris, vulva, breasts, and anus. Masturbation can occur between two persons (mutual masturbation), or it can occur between two people (individual masturbation).

Touching, pressing, rubbing, or massaging a person’s genital area with fingers or against an object such as a pillow; inserting fingers or an object into the vagina or anus; and stimulating the penis or vulva with an electric vibrator, which may be inserted into the vagina or anus.

While masturbating, may also involve caressing, rubbing, or pinching the nipples or other erogenous zones. Both men and women to reduce friction use lubricants. The extent of individuals, either male or female, is affected by different factors. The factors include age, general health of the person, diet, and the frequency of masturbation.

Mostly positive effects of masturbation come when done less often and with self-discipline in regulation. However, tend to be very difficult to achieve due to addiction. On the other hand, negative effects are due to excessive masturbation. They are emotional and physical effects. Some results of masturbation occur jointly to both males and females while others occur separately to a specific gender.

The following are some effects on both genders. Skin irritation, addiction, effects on the brain, pelvic pain, fatigue, and lower back pain. Some positive consequences to both genders are anxiety relief and reduction of sexual tension. Some effects that occur specifically to men include infertility, erectile dysfunction, and shrinking of the penis. The following are the pessimistic results of masturbation explained.

Addiction. A psychological effect occurs to males and females. It is arguably the worst effect since it affects the individuals’ ability to control their frequency of masturbation. With scientists proofing that the difference between the number of negative and positive results lie in the frequency of masturbation, addiction makes the number of negative effects more than positive ones by increasing the frequency. Masturbation addiction also makes one unable to concentrate on other issues at hand due to the uncontrollable urge to masturbate.

Pelvic pain. The pelvis is the area below the belly button and above the thighs. This pain can occur to both males and females though it mainly occurs to females. It is rare but scientists have proven that if masturbation occurs can lead to this pain.

Masturbation of sex hormones and neurotransmitters. Both males and females experience it as a result of excessive masturbation. It affects the human body in a variety of ways. Vision problems, lower back pain, and hair loss are some of the side effects.

Testicular pain. It occurs to males only because of the overproduction of sperms due to excessive masturbation. According to research, as a result of addiction, males are unable to control their need for ejaculation and wind up masturbating many times per day. The testis of men tends to be over-worked in the process by producing sperms every time the person masturbates, hence causing pain.

Masturbation weakens a person physically by burning calories in their body. It affects mainly men. It happens during masturbation due to the large amount of energy required to produce sperms in a body. It indicates that if a person does not consume enough calories, their body is deprived of enough energy to develop. it means that their body will retard in growth and for the grown-ups, their bodies cannot be able to maintain their required energy since masturbation spends more of this energy.

Penis shrinkage. Research has proven that men masturbating especially at a young age cause their penis to grow at a smaller rate making the penis smaller than it should be when fully grown. This is because the hormones that help the penis grow are used in the production of sperms.

Masturbation causes drowsiness. Masturbation causes fatigue to both men and women. After masturbation people feel an increased urge to sleep, this can be a problem when a person needs to stay awake or has a task that they intended to accomplish since after masturbating they might end up sleeping. This means that masturbation reduces a person’s ability to be keen and to be a good timekeeper.

Causes difficulty to men in reaching climax during sex. This is caused by frequent ejaculation. The frequent ejaculation makes the testicles to be reluctant to produce sperms hence the time taken to reach climax is prolonged.

Causes premature ejaculation in men. A man who frequently masturbates is very likely to have premature ejaculation while having sex. Scientists argue that this is because the vagina has certain features that make the penis comfortable during penetration. During masturbation, a man exposes his penis to conditions uncomfortable than those of the vagina. This means that if the individual masturbates frequently, the penis will become accustomed to this state, and when it eventually encounters those of the vagina, he will be more arouse and thus ejaculate sooner than usual.

Skin irritation. It occurs to both men and women. Due to increased rubbing of the penis or vagina during masturbation, too much friction is exerted on the organ. It makes it itchy being a problem for the individual when you are in public. The main reason for the itchiness is masturbating without enough lubricant.

Causes stress on a person. Psychologists say that research has shown that masturbation makes individuals feel bad about themselves leading to stress. These are some worse instances that lead to depression when a person hates masturbating but due to the addiction, they cannot prevent having it due to the increased urge to have it.

The following are some positive effects of masturbation.

Relief from anxiety and stress. Psychologists say that masturbation relieves an individual from anxiety or stress. The frequency a person masturbates differs between when masturbation causes stress and when it helps relieve a person from it. Psychologists argue that when one has too much of it, masturbating reduces the degree of stress drastically. It means that a person can masturbate from time to time when they feel that they are under anxiety can help calm them down.

It helps increase sexual ability. Scientists have proven that masturbating a few hours before having sex can help improve the sexual experience. For men who suffer from premature ejaculation, masturbating before sex can help increase the time one lasts while having sex before ejaculation. Research has also proven that girls who frequently masturbate are better at sex than those who do not. The thing to note about masturbating improving sexual ability is that it occurs only when a person does it controllably. If it is excessive it can lead to the opposite, which is poor sexual ability.

Psychologists argue that masturbation makes a person feel happy. It is because of a feel-good hormone known as endorphins that the body produces when a person masturbates. Another hormone generated when a person masturbates is called dopamine. This hormone also makes a person feel happy. A person can masturbate to feel better or happy when feeling sad due to the production of the two hormones.

Masturbation helps one sleep better. Psychologists say that masturbating helps individuals sleep. Masturbation makes a person feel sleepy done when a person wants to can help the person sleep almost instantly. It also reduces stress when a person is unable to sleep due to anxiety. One can masturbate to relieve themselves of the stress and hence be able to sleep.

As pointed out above, the difference between whether masturbation affects you positively or negatively is based on the frequency of your masturbation. It means that if a person can control the frequency at which they masturbate, they can reap the benefits of masturbation without suffering from effects.

The gloomy effects of masturbation are both emotional and physical making them more damaging. Centrally, the positive effects of masturbation are only emotional. Addiction to any practice is a terrible thing since it reduces or interferes with a person’s logical judgment. Masturbation is a practice a person should not indulge in since it is very addictive. Psychologists say that people often get addicted to masturbation after doing it just once. Addiction would increase urge, which would increase the frequency of their masturbation, leading to the number of negative effects increasing.

In conclusion, the pessimistic effects of masturbation out-way the positive results. Therefore, avoid masturbating in all ways possible because there is no need to indulge in practice in an attempt to enjoy some few benefits and end up suffering worse consequences.

Masturbation causes the release of hormones and neurotransmitters, which are associated with pleasurable feelings, sensations, and physiological responses. Masturbation is typically regarded as a safe and risk-free method of engaging in sexual activity. It may also assist a person to discover personal likes and dislikes. It may even boost aspects of well-being like contentment, relaxation, self-esteem, and body image. However, if masturbation interferes with daily life, relationships, sexual function, or physical health, a person should consult a doctor or therapist. Additionally, if masturbation produces significant or pervasive unpleasant feelings such as guilt, shame, regret, or distress, people can seek professional therapy.
